Bill Gates "retires".

Bill Gates.  What can be said that has not already be said. I know a number of other bloggers and articles out there have already cover what I have to say, but well, it's my blog.  You may love him.  You may hate him.  In the end we all owe him a huge thank you.  Bill took the personal computer and made it into a household appliance.  Imangine if your stoves operation depended entirely on who made it.  Or if your microwave required you to read the man pages before you could figure out what to do.  We may hate him for his business practices, but he made the PC a household appliance.  Without this, people like me would have no place to ramble on.

Then again.... ;)

Big Bird' costume creator Kermit Love dies at 91

That silly bird that most of our generation grew up with.  The face that we all know instantly when we see it.  I hope he will have nothing but sunny days sweeping the clould away where he is.

Equality?

An area womens college has put up a billboard.  One the board is a picture of a black woman and the words "The world needs more strong women".  If we were truly working towards equality shouldn't the phrase state people instead of women?  I understand this is coming from a womens college, but doesn't equality trancend gender and race?

Growing up in my home town high school there was quite a stir on this very topic.  Numerous black students wore shirts with the phrase "Black Power".  No one quesiton their reason or motivation for wearing these shirts.   They were proud of their race.  Then one day a few white students came in wearing shirts with the phrase "White Power".  They made it clear this was done for the same reason as the "Black Power" shirts.  Instead of everyone accepting this as equality, the students were suspended and fought a rather lenghy battle with the school district.  I realize that part of the students motivation was to create a stir, but the concept the hit on is profound.  Is it equality for blacks to be proud of their color but not whites?

An Intro and apology.

Greetings.  The point of this blog is to talk about the odd things that cross my mind.  I love to let my mind wander and explore possibilities.  While I do not have the full understanding of all topics and subject matters I do know enough to have some unusual insights.  Some may be obivios to you, but they weren't for me.  In the title I apologize.  The reason is I'm sure what I gets said here may offend some.  If you are offended please know it was not my intent.  I will not retract what I say so rather than complain feel free to not read the blog.
